Green and Glorious Shakshuka

A Flavorful Twist on a Classic Dish!

Introduction:

Shakshuka, a popular North African and Middle Eastern dish, has taken the culinary world by storm with its rich and savory tomato and egg combination. In this unique variation, we elevate the classic recipe with a burst of vibrant green ingredients, creating a dish that not only tantalizes the taste buds but also adds a visually stunning element to your dining experience.

Ingredients:

  • 1 Green Pepper, chopped
  • ½ Onion, chopped
  • 2 Cloves Garlic, diced
  • 1 Jalapeño, diced
  • 3 Green Chilis, diced
  • 1 Green Tomatoes, diced
  • 1 1/2 tsp Cumin
  • 1 1/2 tsp Sugar
  • 1 tsp Paprika
  • 1/4 tsp Red Pepper Flakes
  • Salt, to taste
  • 4 Al Jazira DHA Omega – 3 Golden Eggs
  • Cilantro, chopped
  • Crumbled Feta Cheese
  • Long Green Chilli, sliced
  • Green Peas

Instructions:

Sauté the Vegetables: In a large cast-iron skillet over medium heat, sauté the green pepper, onion, garlic, and jalapeño in olive oil until the onions are translucent and the pepper is soft, about 5 minutes.

Add Tomatoes and Spices: Add in the green chilis, sauté the tomatoes into the vegetable mixture. Add in  cumin, sugar, paprika, red pepper flakes, and salt to taste. Allow the mixture to simmer for 10 minutes.

Blend and Return to Skillet: Carefully spoon the mixture into a food processor or blender and pulse until smooth. Pour the blended mixture back into the skillet.

Make Indentations and Add Eggs: Make five indentations in the tomato mixture with the back of a spoon, then crack Al Jazira Omega-3 Golden eggs into the holes. Cook for 10-15 minutes over medium-low heat until the egg whites are fully opaque.

Garnish and Serve: Garnish the dish with a generous handful of chopped cilantro, crumbled feta, sliced long green chili, mint, and green peas.

Serve with Bread: Pair this green and glorious shakshuka with your favorite bread for a complete and satisfying meal.
